My class and I are doing our AP with WE by helping out a hospital in Uganda. Isacc and Rachel (who run Deeper Ministries) have been working on a hospital in Uganda which last years class help build. We are planning on sending them supplies such as; farming equipment, seeds, food supplies, menus, and handwashing signs. The way that my group is contributing to the AP with WE project is making handwashing signs and fundraising for the supplies needed for the hospital. The things that other groups in my class are doing is; farming supplies, seeds, and menus for the hospital. My fundraising group is in the process of setting up a Go Fund Me account to help collect money for all groups and we also are trying to figure out whether we are going to do it through the school district or separate from the school.
My AP with WE journey so far has allowed me to see things from a different perspective. For example, I realize that some of the little things we have and take for granted can be valued in other parts of the world. One of the biggest things I am realizing is that money is not always a problem solver. Simple things such as; menus, handwashing signs, seeds, farming supplies, and food supplies can have a great value, even though it is something I don’t think twice about. Finally, I feel I am starting to see that we are going to make a difference at the hospital in Uganda even if it´s the little things we do for them. Overall I am excited to continue on this AP with WE journey.
